Behind the build

Have You Got a Dream Sauna and Wellness Sanctuary?

Creating a personal wellness space at home is becoming increasingly popular, a place where relaxation, fitness, and tranquillity come together effortlessly.

We recently completed a beautiful and unique home project that we can’t stop talking about. It began when the owner of a traditional Manor House in the Sussex countryside had just finished a stunning renovation and was ready to take the next step — creating his own personal wellness retreat within the sprawling grounds.

Sauna360 was commissioned to design and install a sauna that would seamlessly complement the impressive swimming pool, complete with a jetted swim current — and a fully equipped gymnasium.

Designing the Sauna for the Setting

We created a fully glazed sauna with views stretching from the pool to the private golf course beyond. For the interior, warm thermo-aspen wood was chosen for its rich, dark aesthetic, welcoming ambience, and suitability for sauna environments. Thermo-aspen’s durability, low heat conductivity, and water-resistant properties make it ideal, while its gentle aroma when heated adds to the relaxing atmosphere.

Of course, every sauna can be tailored to individual taste, and clients may choose from a wide range of wood types to achieve their ideal look and feel — whether that’s a light and airy finish or a deeper, more dramatic tone.

For the heart of the sauna, a Helo Himalaya heater was selected. This tower-style heater, with its unique honeycomb stone design, allows for a variety of sauna experiences through Helo Water Technology — from hot and dry to gentler, humid heat. It’s a flexible choice that means the atmosphere can be tailored to suit each session.

The Benefits of a Complete Wellness Space at Home

This project also sparked a wider conversation about the appeal of a full wellness area within your own home. When your sauna is part of a larger setup — perhaps alongside a pool, gym, or other amenities — it becomes an integral part of your lifestyle.

A private wellness space might:

  • Offer a convenient way to incorporate moments of relaxation into daily life.
  • Create a personal sanctuary to retreat from busy routines.
  • Provide flexibility to enjoy different wellness experiences without leaving home.

In addition to a sauna, homeowners may consider other features such as:

  • Cold plunge pools for an invigorating contrast after heat sessions.
  • Steam rooms for a gentle, enveloping warmth.
  • Relaxation lounges for quiet moments between activities.

Every element can be tailored to the space available and the style of the property, ensuring it not only feels luxurious but also works harmoniously with its surroundings.

Seasonal Enjoyment

A well-designed wellness space can be enjoyed year-round, adapting effortlessly to the changing seasons. In the winter, the sauna becomes a cosy haven, where the gentle scent of heated wood and the soft hum of the heater create a welcoming escape from the cold. In summer, the same space takes on a lighter mood — a refreshing swim followed by a gentle sauna session with the doors open to the view may provide the perfect complement to long, sunny days.

Because the setup is at home, there’s no need to wait for a “right season” to enjoy it — it can be part of a morning routine in spring, or a weekend ritual in autumn.

Finishing Touches

It’s often the smaller details that transform a functional sauna or pool area into a true luxury retreat. Thoughtfully placed lighting can shift the mood from invigorating to relaxing in an instant, while integrated sound systems may let you enjoy anything from peaceful nature sounds to your favourite playlist. Accessories such as natural scent infusions, and comfortable seating nearby can help create a smooth, relaxing experience throughout the space.

A message from our client...

“As a firm Sauna360 have been very flexible during pre-sales, sales and installation...

I researched a good number of Sauna and Steam companies ranging from kits I could find online that my builder could install, through to very very expensive bespoke solutions.  Sauna360 were at the premium bespoke end, the sauna is great quality and worth paying the price...

Their desire for a fine finish and super end product overall (i.e. my whole spa/gym pool house, not just their part) is to be commended.”.
